Khartoum, Sep. 8 (SUNA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued on Wednesday a press statement on the summoning the Ethiopian Ambassador to Sudan to inform him of the finding of the Sudanese authorities to 29 bodies carried by the Setet River eastern of the villages adjacent to Wad Al Helio Locality in Kassala State during the period from July 26 to August 8, explaining that the competent authorities in the state have taken the necessary procedures in this regard in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Law of the Republic of Sudan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed the Ethiopian Ambassador that the bodies were of Ethiopian citizens of the Tigray nationalism, stating that the identities of the deceased persons were known by some Ethiopian individuals who are resident in the Wad Al Helio area.
The ministry said that it has asked the Ambassador of Ethiopia to convey this issue to the authorities in his country.
It is to be recalled that Sudan is hosting large numbers of Ethiopian refugees, whose influx has increased in the past period, as the government of Sudan is keen to fulfill its obligations in this connection under International Law and according to the humanitarian ties toward these refugees.
Sudan government views that the shelter camps should be far from the Ethiopian borders in order to ensure the safety of the Ethiopian refugees along with providing the necessary services for them.
