Khartoum, Sept. 24 (SUNA) - The Attorney General in charge, Maulana Mubarak Mahmoud Osman, discussed yesterday with a delegation of the Association for Child and Family Development and Welfare the programs to provide support, legal aid and protection for children.
The head of the association Sarah Abu, briefed the attorney general about the establishment of the association which is one of the oldest associations and has a degree of high coordination with the judicial system in the country.
She pointed out that the meeting dealt with a number of issues of common concern, on top of them the organization of the means of legal aid for children in order to assign prosecutors and the Bar Association to defend children in cases submitted to the judiciary, and ways to prepare, build capacities and train employees of child prosecutions in various childhood cases, including the obligations of the state towards international and regional conventions and treaties and national legislation related to the Child Law of 2010 and the recent developments in the field of childhood that necessitated the amendment of the Child Law of 2010.
The association’s head described the meeting as fruitful, noting that they had reached an agreement with the Public Prosecution to establish a quick operational plan to implement the decisions made on the axes that were discussed, explaining that there will be diligent work during the coming period between the two sides.
The Attorney General, on his part has welcomed the agreement between the Public Prosecution and the association, and its work for finding solutions to issues related to childhood, stressing that among the plans and strategies of the Public Prosecution during the coming period is to continue expanding the establishment of a child prosecution in every sector in the capital and the states, insuring the possibility of Issuance of a decision on the procedures followed in the pre-trial stage.
