Khartoum, Jan. 26 (SUNA) – A group of citizens Wednesday demonstrated in front of the headquarters of the UN Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS) to protest over existence of the mission in Sudan, and called for its departure.

The UNITAMS explained on its site on the Internet that a group of Sudanese citizens organized a demonstration in front of the mission headquarters calling for UNITAMS departure from the country, and that the mission informed them that it defends the freedom of assembly and expression, and offered them to receive  a delegation representing them, but they refused.

The mission's media office stated that UNITAMS is present in Sudan at the country's request and with a clear mandate from Security Council Resolution 2524.
