Khartoum, May 24 (SUNA) - Minister of Energy and Petroleum Engineer Mohamed Abdalla Mahmud received today in his office the Chinese Ambassador to Khartoum. 

The meeting discussed the desire of Sudan to upgrade the cooperation between Sudan and China in the field of petroleum and energy to a level tantamount to the size of the historical relations between the two countries.

The Minister of Petroleum and Energy called on the Chinese National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) to expand its investments in petroleum due to the fact that it has long experience of work in Sudan besides its technical and financial abilities.

Engineer Mahmud also called on China to enter into electricity sector and renewable energies.

The minister stressed the importance of exchanging benefits between the two countries on ground that China is an economic superpower and Sudan has huge natural resources.

The Chinese Ambassador, on his part, affirmed that the Chinese government encourages Chinese companies to invest in Sudan, lauding the relations between the two friendly countries. Furthermore, he pointed out that CNPC has been working in Sudan for more than 20 years.  

He stressed that the Chinese Embassy in Khartoum will work to invite and encourage Chinese companies and officials in the fields of petroleum, electricity and renewable energies to visit Sudan to exchange views and integrate roles.
