Khartoum, July 16 (SUNA) – The Head of the UN Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS), Volker Perthes, has called on the local communities in the Blue Nile State to resort to self-restraint and refraining from revenge, expressing his concern and sadness over the events taking place in the state.

In a tweet on Saturday, Volker said that the intercommunal violence and loss of lives in Sudan's Blue Nile region is deeply sad and disturbing.

He urged the communities and their leaders to exercise restraint, refrain from revenge, and to work with the native administration and the regional authorities to take concrete steps towards peaceful coexistence.
