Khartoum, Aug. 16 (SUNA) - Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Ali Al-Sadiq met in his office today Dr. Ismail Wais, the IGAD Special Envoy for the Republic of South Sudan.

The IGAD envoy gave a briefing to the minister on the efforts he is making to support the process of implementing the peace agreement in South Sudan and the challenges it faces, and the results of the meetings he held with the various parties during his recent visit to Juba, pointing to the pivotal role that Sudan plays as a guarantor of the agreement and the chair of IGAD, in promoting the peace process  and work to address the obstacles to its implementation.

For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairperson of the IGAD Ministerial Council affirmed Sudan’s keenness for the process of implementing the peace agreement between the brothers in the Republic of South Sudan to proceed smoothly, and to overcome the challenges and obstacles it faces, referring to his recent visits to Juba and Kampala and the messages he conveyed from His Excellency the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council to the leadership in the two countries, and the meetings he held with the various parties, which are aimed at accelerating the process of implementing the peace agreement and advancing the efforts made in this framework.
