Khartoum, Sept. 14 (SUNA) - HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Sudan, Abdulrahman bin Ali Al Kubaisi waved off today Qatar Red Crescent aid convoy to provide relief to those affected by torrential rains and floods in Gezira State at the embassy buildings in Khartoum.

 The launching of the convoy, which was attended by Minister of Social Development Ahmed Adam Bakheet, aims to help 700 affected families in the state of Gezira by distributing 35 tons of food.

Ambassador Al Kubaisi said that the launching of the convoy comes as a continuation of the role of the State of Qatar and its initiative to stand alongside the Sudanese people as the State of Qatar, since the first days of the flood disaster, has operated aircraft carrying food and shelter aid in affirmation of the stance of the State of Qatar, the Emir, the government and the people, with the brotherly Sudan to confront this disaster.

For his part, Minister of Social Development, thanked the State of Qatar for the assistance provided and the support it has been providing to the Sudanese people.
