New York, Sept. 22 (SUNA) – President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan  made it clear in his speech before the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York today that Sudan is dealing with the issue of Security Council reform within the framework of the unified African position, indicating that Sudan’s position on the process of informal governmental negotiation on the reform underscores the importance and centrality of the issue of Security Council reform and the need for the reform to be comprehensive.

Al-Burhan called for the reform to address the Security Council’s procedures, modalities and approaches in a manner that addresses the negatives of the Council’s current practice and experience, which emerged in the unilateral formulation concerning the countries listed on the Security Council’s agenda.

At the conclusion of his speech, Al-Burhan expressed his thanks and appreciation to all the brotherly and friendly countries that have been extending support to Sudan, calling on the United Nations, the international community and friends for more solidarity with Sudan at this stage.
