New York, Sept. 23 (SUNA) – The Acting Foreign Minister,  Ali Al-Sadiq Ali delivered, yesterday,  the Sudan's statement in the Ministerial Meeting of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) under the slogan (Doha Action Program for Accelerating the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in the least developed countries."

The statements of the participating ministers focused on the topic of sustainable and resilient recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and the importance of implementing the Doha Work Program, while the development partners also announced their commitment to multilateralism in to achieve the implementation of the sustainable development goals in the LDCs.

The Acting Foreign Minister asserted in his statement that the Sudan gives great concern to the implementation of the sustainable development goals, and the steps taken by Sudan, which confirm the government’s firm commitment to do so, calling on development partners, the United Nations system and international financial institutions to provide the necessary assistance to Sudan.

He affirmed Sudan’s welcome to the State of Qatar’s hosting of the 5th UNs Conference on the Least Developed Countries, pointing to Sudan’s aspirations that the Doha Work Program for the next ten years would be the first program to address the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic in the least developed countries, as well as the food, energy and climate change crises, and that the program would be an opportunity to bring about substantial improvement and tangible progress at all levels, the results of which are in the interest of the least developed countries.
